MASTER OF ARTS IN THEOLOGY
PURPOSE:
The Master of Arts (Theology) degree provides
a program studies exclusively in the academic theological
disciplines of Biblical Studies, Biblical Language,
and Theology, for a students who seek not for ordination
but seek to prepare for other advanced or doctoral studies.
PREREQUISITE:
Applicants for the M.A. (Theology), a two-year
program must have a B.A. or B.Sc. degree from a recognized
university or equivalent, and an average of "B"
in the last undergraduate years. The M.A. (Theology)
degree requires 60 credit hours plus a 6 credit-hour
thesis. An oral examination of the thesis is required.
Students for a M. Div. degree and wish to move on
for a M.A. degree may do so immediately. The M.A. degree
may be completed in 30 credit hours plus an acceptable
6 credit-hour thesis.
Applicants from on M. Div. for a M.A. (Theology)
must submit a thesis proposal for the M.A. (Theology)
by March 1 of one's final year of the M. Div. program.
Graduates with a M. Div. degree and wish to move on
to a M.A. (Theology) program, the time-limit must within
seven years, otherwise advanced credit(s) cannot be
transferred to another degree program. The arrangements
for moving from one-degree program to another will be
"consistent with the practice of Acadia Divinity
College."
ADMISSIONS PROCEDURE:
1. Applicants
should complete and return an Application Form for Admission.
2. Applicants are requested to sent or have sent to
the Admission Office, includes:

A brief personal biographical
statement and clear evidence for vocational calling. |

Official transcripts of all post-secondary
schools previously attended. Photocopies are not
accepted |
| (3) |
Three references letters
from the applicant's pastor, deacon board, a present
employer or an academic professor/teacher who is
well acquainted with the applicant. An official
letter of endorsement requested by the applicant
and sent directly to the Admission Office by the
applicant's church. |

Six recent a half-length (2 x 1.5)
portrait of the applicant. |
| (5) |
A non-refundable application
fees must accompany the Application for Admission. |
| (6) |
Each applicant should
present a current Medical Examination Report. |

Students for the M.A. (Theology) degree must submit
a thesis approved by the faculty both as to subject
and treatment. A reading knowledge of a language or
languages appropriate to the area of specialization
may be required.
Students in M.A. (Theology) degree must obtain a
grade point of at least 2.67 (B average) on each course
and on an oral examination of the thesis. Students who
receive less than a 2.67 grade point (below B average)
in more than 12 credit hours of course work will be
required to withdraw from the M.A. (Theology) program.
